2011 Youth Corps "Leaders in Training"
2011 marks the seventeenth year and Youth Corps continues its commitment to the young people in and around Lubbock. Youth Corps strives to provide a program which emphasizes the importance of leadership, self-discipline, responsibility, teamwork, positive work ethic, and helping others.

Youth Corps believes in diversity among cadets- economically, socially, racially, and in success levels. It has been the experience of Youth Corps that both ends of the youth spectrum benefit from the Youth Corps philosophy....Cadets learn from each other and from the program.

This program is for ages 14 - 18, and this is the ONLY criteria for being a participant in the program.

Youth Corps is a two-week leadership training camp and a Community Outreach Program. All Cadets who successfully complete the two-week camp are eligible to participate in the Community Outreach Program that consists of participating in various activities and events, educational and activity-based workshops, as well as the opportunity to give back to the community throughout the program year.

The two-week Youth corps camp will open at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2011, and closes with the graduation ceremony on Sunday, July 3, 2011. The graduating Cadets will also have the privilege of marching in the 4th on Broadway parade (July 4, 2011). Cadet Candidates and Staff will be housed at Texas Tech University.

There is an application packet that must be completed with all signed signatures and submitted at the time of the interview. Interviews are scheduled on the following dates at the following times and places:

Saturday, March 19th at the Volunteer Center Meeting Room at 1706 23rd Street from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
