Joint Application Medical Program (JAMP) at TTU
I am very pleased to announce that the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine will be hosting a Summer Enrichment Program for incoming high school seniors that are interested in medicine. This program, in coordination with the Early Dedication to Medical Education program and the state’s Joint Admission Medical Program, will provide great growing opportunities and experiences for two weeks in the month of July and will include sessions in critical thinking, learning styles, professionalism, leadership, and others. Mock interviews, healthcare exposure, and volunteer activities will also be offered to the select group of students who will participate in the program.

The program will take place Monday through Friday beginning July 11th and ending July 22nd. The program is free to each student and includes lunch each day as well as all academic materials needed. We do not want the current cost of gas to hinder any student’s ability to attend and will be offering travel reimbursement funds to aid in the cost of driving to and from the TTUHSC Campus during the program.

We have reserved one spot in the program for a student from Shallowater High School. I am contacting you to see if you would be able and willing to refer a student for this spot. The following are the criteria for students to participate in the Summer Enrichment Program:

- The student must be an incoming high school senior, planning on graduating within the next year.
- The student must be a Texas Resident.
- The student must have expressed a strong interest in pursuing a career in medicine. This Summer Enrichment Program is only for students who would specifically like to attend medical school someday in order to become a medical doctor; the program is not intended for students wanting to go into other healthcare fields such as nursing, physical therapy, pharmacy, etc.
If you are aware of a student at your school that meets all of these criteria and would benefit from the Summer Enrichment Program, please fill out the attached form and return it to the Assistant Advisor, Erin Evans, no later than Monday, April 11th. The form can be sent by e-mail (e.evans@ttuhsc.edu), fax (806-743-2725), or mail (3601 4th Street STOP 6216, Lubbock Texas, 79430-6216).
