Accounting Career Awareness Program at TTU |
Texas Tech University will sponsor the Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) during the week of July 11-15, 2010 on the campus of TTU in Lubbock, TX.
ACAP was created to provide early exposure of the career opportunities in the accounting, finance and other business related fields to minority high school students. This residency program provides students excellent opportunities to not only learn more about their future career opportunities, but also to meet other students within Lubbock and surrounding cities. ACAP will provide hands on learning experiences. A series of classes will introduce students to accounting, marketing, and management, as well as shared business experiences and tips for success from professional business leaders. The students will have a great time on the TTU campus as well!
This year, we will sponsor a maximum of 20 students. These students will attend ACAP with all expenses paid. Students will be selected for ACAP through the application process. All applicants must be either a sophomore, junior, or senior for school year 2009-2010, have a current GPA of 3.0 (exceptions will be considered based on merit) and meet all requirements outlined in the application. Additionally, selected students into the program will have an opportunity to compete for a $1,000 cash scholarship to be used to defray expenses directly related to tuition and fees upon acceptance and enrollment into an accredited College or University
Applications must be received and/or postmarked by April 12, 2010 (No exceptions). Interviews will be conducted on TTU’s Campus on May 1, 2010. Students selected for ACAP will be notified no later than May 21, 2010.

AgVenture 2010 Youth Camp at Ardmore, Oklahoma |
Each year the Agricultural Division of the Noble Foundation hosts an agriculturally oriented summer program called AgVenture for high school students (must be a sophomore, junior or senior as of April, 2010). This year, AgVenture will be June 14th through the 17th.
This camp of for Texas and Oklahoma high school students and gives them an opportunity for hands-on experience with:
*livestock production
*commercial fish farming
*wildlife management
*prescribed burning
*vegetable production
*pecan production
*grazing management
*firearms safety
*and more!

2010 Texas A&M Camp ARCH |
The College of Architecture will be hosting Camp ARCH this summer from July 11th to the 17th. The resident summer camp is designed to give young people an opportunity to experience the professions of Architect, Constructor and Visual Designer. The program accepts high school students who have completed the 9th grader or higher and incoming college freshmen.
The number of participants is limited to 50 students selected on a competitive basis. Applications and additional information is available at camparch.tamu.edu.

2010 Shake Hands With Your Future |
Do you know how many different types of engineers there are? Do you know how many different areas you could study and research in biological sciences? What does it take to become a lawyer, a writer, an artist or an animal scientist?
When you attend Shake Hands With Your Future you may choose many different experiences like, working with DNA, visiting a wind tunnel, acting on main stage, working side by side with professionals in a hospital research lab, writing, painting, and more....
You will request two classes and will receive 15 hours of instruction in the morning class and 12 hours of instruction in the afternoon class. Classes are not graded.
The session for students entering Grades 8-11 is June 7-11, 2010.
The cost for the session is $610.00.

2010 Run On the Wind |
Join Texas Tech for a fun-filled and informative five-day/five-night summer camp that explores the power of the wind and the means by which we harness it. In this camp, you will see how we forecast and measure the wind, learn the basics of turbine design, and build and test your own wind turbine. You will gain knowledge about how wind science is interdisciplinary and what careers are possible with a degree in wind science.
Classes are team taught by experienced university and public school faculty and emphasize hands-on activities.
Students are housed in Texas Tech residence halls, and one counselor is assigned to every 15 campers.
The session for Ages 14-19 is June 6 - 11, 2010.
The registration fee is $610.

Science: It's a Girl Thing 2010 |
SIGT is a four day-three night residentail camp for girls entering 5th through 11th grades. Girls reside in university residence halls on the Texas Tech campus. During the day, girls attend exciting hands-on science classes in university classrooms and laboratories. Evenings are devoted to traditional summer fun.
The cost for this year is $330.00
The dates for girls entering 7th - 11th grades are July 19 - 22, 2010.

Red Raider Academy at TTU |

The first camp is RED RAIDER ACADEMY and it is held June 15-18th.
WHAT IS IT?
Red Raider Academy is a college-prep summer camp designed to help students start their journey to a four-year degree. They learn about our admissions process, explore a broad range of academic programs and experience student life on a traditional college campus. They also meet students from all over while getting the inside scoop on test-taking strategies, essay writing and how to have fun as a Red Raider!
WHO CAN ATTEND?
High School Juniors who are first-generation college students and/or demonstrate financial need. Students can be a part of Red Raider Academy the summer before they begin their senior year in high school.
HOW DO STUDENTS APPLY?

Check out academics, campus life and special programs like study abroad and undergraduate research. Spend the night in the Honors College residence hall and tour top-notch scientific and performance facilities while students learn about degree programs in the area of their interest. Don’t worry – there’s plenty of time for fun, too!
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Students who have at least a 1200 SAT (critical reading and math), 26 ACT or hold top 10% class ranking, can be a part of Red Raider Experience the summer before they begin their senior year in high school.

MITE is a free 5 day residential summer camp at UT Austin devoted to exposing current high school sophomores and juniors (2009-2010 academic year) to engineering. Outstanding African-American, Hispanic and Native American students, as well as those who have overcome any social or economic hardship, are strongly encouraged to apply. All students may apply.
MITE participants: - Receive information about UT Austin including freshman admissions, financial aid, housing and scholarship availability - Attend interactive workshops highlighting each discipline of engineering - Tour research facilities and work on a team design project to reinforce math and science concepts used in solving engineering problems - Attend workshops focusing on essay and resume writing

2010 West Texas A&M C.A.M.P. |
The College Assistance Migrant Program (C.A.M.P.) at West Texas A&M University offers an excellent opportunity for the University to work with students from migrant and seasonal farmworker backgrounds.
The program provides up to $3,000 in scholarship money to students who have been identified as migrants and attend WTA&M. In addition to the scholarship, C.A.M.P. students receive a monthly participant stipend and may be eligible to receive financial assistance for books/supplies and housing.

2010 Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M |
We wanted to share with you an opportunity for students who are interested in Veterinary Medicine and are currently completing their sophomore or junior year in high school. The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences will be hosting the 2010 Veterinary Enrichment Camp on the Texas A&M campus this July. The four-day event will offer prospective students the chance to tour the college, attend lectures, gain hands-on experience, and stay on campus. 2009 Wildlife Conservation and Management Camp |
This camp focuses on outdoor, hands-on activities, with presentations by wildlife professionals. Students must be nominated and have a strong interest in the natural sciences and in outdoor activities. They must be highly motivated, and have average or above grades in natural sciences and mathematics. Students must have a flexible and tolerant attitude about occasional adverse conditions, such as rain, heat, humidity, or insects.
The camp will be July 12 - 18 on the King Ranch IBC Lease at Kingsville, Texas.
The cost for each student is $200. Participants are encouraged to solicit funds from community organizations or sponsors. Fees are due by June 14th.
Application must be received by May 30, 2009.

2009 WTA&M Junior Fed Beef Career & Leadership Program |
This program at WTA&M in Canyon is open to any incoming high school juniors and seniors who have an interest in pursuing a career path in feedyard operations and management and the fed beef industry. This program gives students a chance to learn about many areas of feedyard operations and other aspects of the fed cattle industry.
Interested students must fill out the application and return it to the TCFA office by May 1, 2009. 15-20 students will be selected to participate and will be notified by May 15th.

Fashion Camp 2009 |
This summer, the Department of Retailing at Texas Tech University is pleased to announce the second annual Fashion Camp 2009: Find the Diva Within. Students will have the opportunity to explore the world of fashion and accessory design, learn about their favorite designers, take steps toward predicting this season’s hottest trends, and participate in numerous activities that enhance their individual style and sense of creativity. Fashion Camp 2009 is a great opportunity for those students with any interest in fashion, pop culture, art, music, and so much more. Attached to this email is a Fashion Camp 2009 flyer (feel free to duplicate). Cost is $400 per person, which includes meals, room and board, a free camp T-shirt, and more. A completed application form and a certified check or money order for $400, must be received by May 1st, 2009. Additional materials and information will be sent individually upon receipt of the application and camp fee. Texas A&M University at Galveston Sea Camp |
Sea Camp is a summer residential camp for ages 10 - 18 interested in marine biology/science. Participants have come to Sea Camp from across the country and around the world to take advantage of all the educational opportunities that Sea Camp has to offer.
